The following information received 7 February 2020
Weeds Bridge was at Colchester Station in the Town of Walton. It crossed the West Branch of the Delaware River near the intersection of Colchester Mountain Road and River Road in Walton Township. The O & W Railroad ran parallel to River Road and the West Branch of the Delaware River also.
I don’t know the history of the name Colchester Station, but I would guess this was due to the railroad being there. Trains often stopped to pick up passengers, including children on the way to school, if they stood near the tracks and flagged down the train. The intersection of the roads may have resulted in a larger number of passengers being picked up there. The name, Colchester Station distinguished it from the hamlet of Colchester in the Town of Colchester. -- Betty N. Watson, 7 February 2020
