HANCOCK/CORBETT photos by Harriett Schultz - 2009

Bridge at Harvard

This is the bridge in Harvard NY that has been closed since 2006 - I would guess it was weakened by the flood - this view is from the Rt 30 side. There is an access road from East Branch up the other side and the OLD hotel may have been located over there.
The following photos are of the "old" way from Rt 30 across the river into Corbett NY.

Apparently the little bridge up the stream is still in use by someone over in the village - or maybe access to whatever the land use is on the left end of the small bridge. The "new" iron bridge currently in use is just to the right of our position on Rt 30. Also visible from our position was the smoke stack of the acid factory that many years ago was one of the mainstays of Corbett economy.

Also much more visible than the last time I was up there is the abutments for the Colchester covered bridge that fell in the river so many years ago - 60 plus. Crossed it just once when I was very small. Dad wanted to see someone who lived across the river. This was in the small settlement south of Downsville on Rt 30 that I can't at the moment remember the name of. Was before you got to Corbett going South.
