About this letter from W. Gardner to Captain James R. Angel:
I am a stamp collector, and came across an old letter. It was sent from Lordsville, Delaware County from a W. Gardner, and is addressed to Captain James R. Angel. It is imprinted with the British Royal Crown. The gist of the letter seems to involve supplying some troops for Captain James. Place names indicated in the letter include NewBerne (Newburgh??) and Albany. It is dated December 11(??) but sadly no year. I found your website by typing in Lordsville and Delaware County – apparently Lordsville no longer exists. --Mark Lichtenwalner, September 2006
Information from the Historical and Statistical Gazetteer of New York State by J. H. French, LL.D. - 1860 indicates that Lordsville was a R.R. Station and Post Office.
