Finnerty's Hotel was located at Long Flat where the Downsville Stone Company is today on Route 30 between Harvard and Shinhopple. 5 February 2009 - note from Tim Mallery: Harvard is on Route 30, between East Branch and Long Flat. It formerly was a rail stop on the D&N Railroad. 5 February 2009 - note from Jeremiah Palmer Harvard is a small town in the northeast side of the town of Hancock. Harvard still has a church, my Grandmother's sister lived there for years, and it has some nice people. Dora owned the old one room schoolhouse and had a private museum there. Now that she is gone, I have no idea what happened to her house, the schoolhouse and so on. 8 February 2009 - note from Harriett Schultz: Finnerty's Hotel was located on Rt 30 between East Branch and Downsville, and as nearly as I can recall, just south of Harvard - it burned some years ago and next time I'm up that way, I will take a photo of the spot as it now is. 8 February 2009 - note from Evelyn Boyles: Tom Finnerty's place, which burnt some time ago, was about half way between Corbet and East Branch on the right hand side of the road. Directly across the road and river is Baxter Mtn. In the 1950's they had dances there, at least for a little while. The only time we went to a dance two guys got in a fist fight and one of them backed up and stepped on my toe. I was sitting in a booth by the dance floor sipping a coke at the time, much too young for anything stronger. Welcome Page of the Delaware County NY Genealogy and History Site . . . | . . .
