I found in the 1940 census Robert and Alice Dempsey , a couple in the 50s who resided on Union Street, Bennington, VT, and lists a niece, Alice Cook and a lodger, Lydia Campbell residing with them. Robert was born in Millerton, NY and lived to be 100, passing away on May 18, 1983. He is buried in Bennington, VT. He was a retired Blacksmith; no evidence of children; his wife was listed as a survivor; his parents were both born in Scotland. This information is for anyone who may be interested.
