Delaware County NY Genealogy and History Site

Visited two cemeteries today. Both are in the town of Roxbury, New York. They are located in the Denver Vega Valley area.Got a little wet doing it but it was fun. --Roger D. Davis, August 15, 2001

The first was the KEATOR CEMETERY in Vega, New York. In it found several fieldstone markers and a few unreadable headstones. What was readable are as follows:

Sally, wife of Thomas Keator, died May 8, 1834 at 26yrs-4months-16days.
Joseph Keator, born July 18, 1764 and died May 1, 1817 at 52yrs-9mo-15d.

Mary, wife of Joseph, died Oct. 12, 1851 at 73yrs-11mo-15days.

The second cemetery is known as the GANOUNG CEMETERY. Was only able to find one headstone. It read Martin D. Ganoung, died Aug. 22, 1906 at 59yrs. There was a fresh flag placed on this grave.
