Delaware County NY Genealogy and History Site

In looking over some topo maps recently I found an unknown cemetery in Margaretville. I have asked around the area and enlisted the help of the Historical Society and no one knew or knows of it. If you look at the topo of Margaretville (below) you will note it is located on Margaretville Mountain Road just out of the village toward New Kingston. It appears it is between Margaretville Mt. Road and the Bull Run Road.

Got a phone call back from USGS this morning (Feb 17, 2011) and the lady was very kind and although not able to help much offered some suggestions and said she would keep my info in case she comes across anything in the future. Had a nice visit with her and she explained the sources she tried to find the info from. She suggested local historical societies and the normal stuff I have already tried. In the spring I have permission to walk the property and see if there is any evidence of a cemetery there. I have also been in touch with a gentleman who says he can do witching of graves and has offered to give it a try as well. Will keep everyone informed if we turn up any info. --Roger
