To all Researchers of the BURGHARDT/BURGET and Allied Families:

After about 20 years of researching the ancestors, family, and descendants of Revolutionary War soldier, Jehoiakim BURGHARDT/BURGET, Sr., and his wife, Sarah WHITE; I have made the final break-through in obtaining information about Phanella [Fanny] BURGETT [b. 1792, probably Kortright, Delaware Co., NY].

She was the youngest of 7 known children of Jehoiakim and Sarah. Jehoiakim and his younger brother, Hendrick, were enumerated as Heads of Household in the 1790 Census in Harpersfield/Kortright in what was then Montgomery Co., NY. Both were also enumerated in the Census of 1800 for Kortright, Delaware Co., which had been formed from parts of Montgomery Co. and Otsego Co. between 1790-1800.

Since Davenport was formed from Kortright, there is even a possibility that Jehoiakim could have lived in what is now Davenport from the beginning.

Jehoiakim probably died before 1810, since his name was not listed along with the names of some of his male children in the Chenango Co., NY Census for that year.

Four of Phanella's older siblings [Judith, who m. Josiah DODGE; William, Sr.; Milbury; and Jehoiakim, Jr.] migrated from Smithville, Chenango Co., NY during the period 1813-1819 to Harpersfield, Ashtabula Co., OH. Phanella had married [FNU] CLEVELAND and had apparently stayed behind in either Delaware Co. or Chenango Co. She is known to have had a son, Chilron CLEVELAND, and they had apparently visited with her family in Ashtabula Co.

She married 2) Daniel COVEY in Broome Co., NY in 1817 and had four more COVEY children [Hiram Perry; Sarah Juliette; Daniel M.; and Elisha E.] in Broome Co. before migrating to Mahaska Co., IA in the 1840's, where she d. in 1849.

She married (1) [FNU] CLEVELAND Bef. 1815. He died Bef. 1815. She married (2) DANIEL M. COVEY, SR. 1815 in Broome Co., NY, son of HOPE COVEY and EUNICE YARNS. He was born 02 February 1785 in Albany, Albany, NY, and died 07 February 1854 in Mahaska Co., IA.

Notes for PHANELLA BURGETT: Phanella apparently stayed behind in NY when 4 of her siblings [Judith--m. Josiah Dodge; William, Sr.; Milbury; and Jehoiakim, Jr.] migrated from Chenango Co., NY to Ashtabula Co., OH ca. 1813-1819. She and her son, Chilron Cleveland, are known to have made the trip to Ashtabula Co., OH to visit her siblings there.

Daniel2COVEY (Hope1) was born in NY 2 February 1785. He married Phanella 'Fanny' BURGETT in Broome Co, NY (info from Joseph Covey, e-mail dated 11 Jul 1999). Phanella died 1849 (info from Joseph Covey, e-mail dated 11 Jul 1999). He married Sarah MORRIS (info from Joseph Covey, e-mail dated 11 Jul 1999). Sarah died after 1854. Daniel died 1854 in Mahaska Co, IA, at 69 years of age (info from Joseph Covey, e-mail dated 11 Jul 1999).

Daniel M. Covey--Daniel Covey, father, stated that he had boarded & clothed Lidia B. Covey and John M. Covey, minor heirs of the deceased [Daniel, Jr.] since 31 day of Sept 1847. 1850 Census [pg. 175, Mahaska Co., IA, age 65. Son Elisha, age 23, Grandson John, age 6.
