JOHN WATERS OWENS AND WIFE CLARISSA TIFFANY OWENS
I am presuming the death of Clarissa Tiffany Owens (wife of John Waters Owens) to be May 1878 due to child birth- as their daughter Fannie Owens being born and surviving that same month and year.
In the 1880 NY census, however, Fannie is living with Clarissa's younger sister Francis and her husband Roswell Smith next door to Clarissa's parents Bernard and Theodosia Tiffany who have living with them- Clarissa and John's only son, Austin William Owens age 5 who is my husband, Jack Owens' grandfather.
I have located the burial location for John Waters Owens in Milwaukee Wisconsin thanks to the 4th document below from the 1914 death record indicating John is a widower and was living in close proximity to the couple's oldest child, Iona Lee Owens Rogers of Chicago Illinois. The distance between the two residents for father and daughter was 90 miles, and at the bottom of the record it states John's personal effects were shipped to his daughter, Iona.
I am at a loss as to where to look for Clarissa's burial which indeed may be unmarked . . . so I am trying to narrow locations by the 1875 census for the town of Tompkins, Delaware Co. in which she is listed - election districts 2, 3. Does anyone have any idea if this is at all possible? --With heartfelt thanks! Lita North-Owens, 2 November 2017
