Forge View Farm in Town of Hardenburgh, Ulster County

"Farm house and buildings of John E. Haynes in Dry Brook. Small older house of Ann Kelly in rear at left. Judson (Jut) Haynes can be seen sitting in the barn window. Rufus Woodard leaning on his bicycle. Hite (Hiram) Todd near him in the road by the covered bridge." Farm, now in 1960 owned by Orson Haynes and called Forge View Farm.

(above caption was written on the back of postcard by Nina Kittle Haynes. Card loaned by Pamela Johnson.)

Extra Information
  • House relocated and owned by Kingdon Gould. Other buildings have been razed
  • note the apple orchard above the house and the beehives on the left
  • believe farm was purchased by Orson Haynes from John E. Haynes 1924 (Orson's daughters, Lena and Leta, were born on the Cook place)
  • Covered bridge in photo replaced with a more modern bridge 1928-1929
  • interior photo of the interior of the Ann Kelly house appears in the Town of Hardenburgh section of Picturesque Ulster
  • Hiram Todd one of the young boys in the photo lived 1904-1976 - looks to be between 8 and 10 in the photo, which therefore probably dates from 1912-1914
  • Judson Haynes by the barn lived from 1901-1955
