Here lies the remains of St. Leger Cowley and those of his descendants who were the original settlers of this part of Delaware and Schoharie Counties.
To generations yet unborn be it known that this farm, part of Lots No. 1 and No. 2 in Great Lot No. 52 of the Hardenburgh Patent, was first occupied and improved in the year 1791 by William Cowley, whose remains lie here beneath.
