The People of the State of New York,
BY THE GRACE OF GOD, FREE AND INDEPENDENT:

To Samuel A. Law & J. Albion Law

Send GREETING:

Whereas Samuel A. Law as is alleged, lately died intestate, having whilst living, and at the time of his death, Goods, Chattels and Credits, within this State, by means whereof, the ordering and granting Administration of all and singular the said Goods, Chattels and Credits, and also the auditing, allowing and final discharging the Account thereof, doth appertain unto us: And we being desirous that the Goods, Chattels and Credits of the said deceased, may be well and faithfully administered, applied and disposed of, do grant unto you the said Samuel A. Law & J. Albion Law full power, by these Presents, to administer and faithfully to dispose of all and singular the said Goods, Chattels and Credits - to ask, demand, recover and receive the debts, which unto the said deceased, whilst living, and at the time of his death, did belong, and to pay the debts which the said deceased did owe, so far as such Goods, Chattels and Credits will thereto extend, and the law require: HEREBY requiring you to make, or cause to be made, a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods, Chattels and Credits of the said deceased, which have or shall come to your hands, possession or knowledge, and the same so made, to exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, into the Office of the Surrogate of the said County of Delaware at or before the expiration of three calendar months from the date hereof: AND ALSO, to render a just and true account of Administration when thereunto required. And we do, by these Presents, depute, constitute and appoint you, the said Samuel A. Law & J. Albion Law Administrators of all and singular the Goods, Chattels and Credits which were of the said deceased.

In Testimony whereof, we have caused the Seal of Office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed.

To the Surrogate of the County of Delaware:

The Petition of Catharine H. Law of the town of Meredith in the county of Delaware, respectfully showeth:

That your petitioner is the widow of Samuel A. Law late of the town of Meredith in the said county of Delaware, now deceased; that the said deceased died on or about the 25th day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two that at, or immediately preceding the time of his death, he was an inhabitant of said county of Delaware; that he has left no Will, as far as your petitioner ha been able to discover: That the said deceased left, your petitioner his widow & the following named children - viz - Samuel A. Law, Wm W Law, Stephen J. Law & Catharine S. Law all minors & having no general guardian.

That in the opinion of your petitioner the whole amount of the personal property left by the said deceased, was about $2000- Dollars.

Your petitioner therefore pray that letters of Administration upon the estate of the said deceased may be granted to your petitioner & the whole real & personal property ___ $5000 & less than $20,000 in value

Catharine H. Law Administratrix of the estate of Samuel A. Law late of the town of Meredith in said county, being duly sworn, says that she will well, honestly and faithfully discharge the duty of such Administratrix according to law.

Know all Men by these Presents, That we Catharine H. Law, J. Albion Law & Stephen D. Law are held and firmly bound unto the People of the State of New York, in the sum of five thousand dollars, current money of the United States of America, to be paid to the said People, to which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our and each of our Heirs, Executors and Administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated the 9th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred sixty three

The Condition of this Obligation is such, That if the above bounden Catharine H. Law of all and singular, the goods, chattels, and credits of Samuel A. Law late of the town of Meredith in the county of Delaware, deceased, shall faithfully execute the trust reposed in her as such, and also that she shall obey all orders of the Surrogate of the county of Delaware, aforesaid, touching the administration of the estate committed to her then this obligation to be void, otherwise of force.
