KEELER - I am seeking information about David Keeler born about 1780 died about 1850, is listed in the 1820 Census in Kortright. The census lists a large family with two male children between 1 and 9 years old. My third great grandfather was also named David Keeler and he was born in 1817 in New York, we do not know where in New York, I've heard it was in Kortright, but that is not supported by any factual data. We do not know the names of his parents, I'm guessing, if it was Kortright, it might be the David Keeler who was listed in the 1820 Kortright census. But that's just a guess. Are there records of this man which contain the names of his children and their approximate date of birth? So far, my third great grandfather who lived a good part of his adult life in Waterville, Lucas County, Ohio and died there, just seems to have appeared from nowhere. Ronald Keeler - posted 11-2013

KELLY/KELLEY - (Robison/Banks/Hillicker) I am wondering if there are divorce records in Delaware County that date back to about 1880? I know that 2 members of my family (both brothers) were possibly divorced. The first one was Jonathan Stillwood Kelly/Kelley.(grgr grandfather) He was married to Freelove Hillicker (spelling?) and had 2 children John R. Kelly (my grandfather) & Cora or Edora Mae Kelly. Freelove was also married previously to John Alexander Carroll who died in the civil war. In the 1870 Census, Jonathan and Freelove were raising her children from her first marriage Wilson & John Carroll. 1870 CENSUS - Hardenburg, Ulster Co. NY. In 1880 Jonathan & Freelove are in different households. Jonathans wife Freelove shows up in a separate household with his 2 children in 1880. BY 1920 Census, John Stillwood Kelly is In Iowa (Glidden Carroll County). Sarah, Jonathan Stillwood Kelly's second wife was Sarah Robinson. B. Jan 5, 1859, d. May 13, 1933 I have an obit that states that they were married in July of 1880, but I can find no record of this. They went on to have 11 children. My guess is that they had to be married in NY before they went to Iowa. The second (his brother) was Nelson P. Kelly/Kelley. His first wife was Rosilla Banks, daughter of Joseph Banks & Mary Robinson. By 1900 census Nelson has married the Mary Baker - servant that was in the home in 1880. Can anyone tell me if there were divorce records in 1880? Or suggest where to look? I posted this on the Delaware County board as his parents William J. Kelly and Susan Bellows moved from Delaware County, Middletown, (between 1840-50) to Ulster County. I am hitting brick walls on the Ulster County website, as most of their records are in books that you have to buy, and I don't know if my family is even mentioned in them. KETCHUM - In the information that I have been able to find thus far I have read that Helen Ketchum was born in the town of Simpsonville, Delaware County in 1834. In speaking with someone at the county clerks office and one of the courts, there seemed to be no awareness of there even being a Simpsonville. I did find her buried In Maple Grave Cemetery in Worcester, though elsewhere there are indications that she actually died in Harpersfield. I also saw a Timothy Ketchum (born 1807) buried there. Have looked for vital records of births, deaths and marriages for Simpsonville and found nothing. Essentially, I am just trying to find whatever I can on this family to indicate the predecessors and where they originated. Elsewhere, I have found that all of the Ketchums originated from one person in New York, but WORKING backwards can find nothing more in Delaware county, so I have hit something of a roadblock to establishing any linkages. Apparently Timothy Died Dec 3, 1895 and had a wife Rebecca born Dec 10 1809 and died May 9, 1885. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Clarence W. Walker - posted 04-2008

KISSOCK - I am doing some genealogical research on my family. I have two ancestors associated with Delaware County. The first is James Kissock who immigrated to the United States in 1850 and supposedly settled in Delaware County shortly thereafter. The second ancestor is Charles Sabra Kissock. Supposedly, he was born on June 21, 1859 in the town of Roxbury in Delaware County. He would have been the son from the marriage of James Kissock and Sabra Jennings. Any help or advice would be sincerely appreciated. Richard S. Bradley, Jr. - posted 02-2016

KISSOCK - An update on my previous Kissock query. James Kissock was in the marble cutting business in Roxbury. Have found one of the headstones he carved in the Moutain Valley (aka Sutton Hollow) Cem. in Ashland, Greene, NY. The person the headstone was for, died in 1875. [interestingly, his son, Charles Sabra Kissock, was also carving headstones in Windham, Greene, NY and carved another stone in the same cemetry dated 1882]. Joe Travis - posted 11-99

KISSOCK - Looking for all Kissocks - James b. abt. 1827 in Scotland, came to Canada in 1850 - a resident of Bovina, Delaware Co. at the time of his naturalization as U.S. citizen in 1854 [thank you, Del.GenWeb, for posting this info.]. 1860 census in Roxbury shows him as a 'Marble Cutter with wife Sabra (Jennings), and children Isabella W. (age 4), Jennette S. (3), Charles S. (1) -- although 2 additional sons were apparently born. James and son Charles Sabra Kissock were associated with the carvings at Pratt's Rock in Prattsville, Greene Co. Any help appreciated. Joe Travis - posted 03-98

KITTLE - My 3rd great grandfather was Jeremiah Kittle Jr. born in Middletown township in 1824. He died in Delaware County 21 June 1900. His first wife was Julia Ann. The only clue to her maiden name is in the 1925 Iowa census. Their oldest daughter Mary said her name was Hull. She died in Ogle County Illinois 17 Sept 1861. Jeremiah then returned to Delaware County. We do not know who the parents of Julia Ann are. In the 1850 census she is in Middletown Twp. with Jeremiah. If her maiden name was Hull then a possibility might be her father was Elijah. The 1850 census says she was born in 1822. The 1860 Ogle county census says 1819 or 1820. Any information appreciated. KNAPP - I am very curious regarding the town Hazel NY. I beleive it was down Route 17 East past Fishs Eddy, Liberty or that area. My great grandmother Hattie Bennett Knapp ran a boarding house there and was murdered in the boarding house. It seems she was having an affair on my great gandfather Elmer with a guy by the last name of Soden. My relatives had a newspaper years ago showing photos of the State Police and their Bloodhound out in the hills of Hazel looking for the murderer. He was caught and served timed and was released. I remember when I was younger riding with my dad and looking down from the highway to the town and he showed me the barding house. It may have been 35+ years ago. I rem seeing the boarding house in the center with several small buidling surrounding it. My dad passed away when I was in 5th grade. We keep in touch randomly with his side of the family. I do see an aunt and uncle often. They think another uncle may have the paper clipping of the story. It was written up in a detective newspaper at the time. My Grandmother and Grandfathers names were Ethel & Reno Charles. My dad was Reginald Charles and the lived in Hancock. My grandfather Reno worked for Ford Motor Company which was near the Delaware Inn Hotel. Any information regarding this or any of my famioly would be appreciated. Laurie Ellis - posted 05-2006
