On September 16th 2016, the Delaware County NY Genealogy and History Site celebrated its twentieth anniversary. It started back in 1996 with several pages of data put together with some very simple 'html' coding. It is now far beyond the several pages, but, the coding and styling remain simple. Information and photos for the researcher is our main objective.
As the gal behind this project all through these years, I would like to say how rewarding it has been to work with so many great volunteers across the country. I have had the pleasure of meeting a few of our volunteers in person, and with several of the volunteers, many e-mail messages have been exchanged. With others, just one or two quick e-mails. To see the very large list of participants of this website, please go to:
dcnyhistory.org/aboutwebsite.html and see list towards bottom of page.
Throughout this past year I've upgraded the coding a bit in order to give the site, as a whole, a more uniform look. While doing so and seeing the names of all who have so generously contributed their time, many fond memories come streaming back. Some correspondents have slipped from sight only to re-appear 'out-of-the-blue' while submitting something again; some have slipped away leaving me to wonder what has happened to them. Along the way, some very dedicated and dear workers have passed away. You can take a few moments to remember them in our 'Memorial' section.
This is, and always has been, a very loose gathering of researchers and volunteers. Each doing 'their own thing', sending files that I manipulate for web-readiness and all seems to turn out fine.
If you haven't visited the site in awhile, please take the time now to review this great collection of data and photos from many dedicated volunteers and drop us a line!
