WILLIAM H. SMITH FAMILY

The writing on front and back of the photos are all original of either the Smith boys (most likely) or my grandmother. Photos #1 and 2 are of Claude, the third is the back side of the photo with the filly and the "14 years old" is written by my grandmother, Mary B. (Place) White.

The two photos at left look enough different that I would say they are of a brother of Claude (perhaps Sherman). For one thing, the part in his hair is on the other side, his left ear seems closer to his head and his face seems a little fuller.

The photo below is of Mary B. Place and Everett Smith, (another brother), taken at the Delhi Fair in 1906 (is in fact, a tin type photo).

The words on the back written in pencil are written by my grandmother, Mary B. (Place) White. I’m not sure about the other in ink.

This is the back of a post card sent to my grandmother by Claude (which he only initialed). This is only to show Claude’s handwriting.

I was told by my mother that she thought Claude might be a boyfriend of my grandmother’s, but if she was residing there as a servant, it makes sense that she would be doing things with and would have photos of the boys, the relationship being more "family-like". She was married to Daniel White in East Meredith in 1907.
