BONKER FAMILY of CANNONSVILLE - HALE EDDY

There are several members of the Bonker family buried in Hales Eddy (not shown in the Hale Eddy compilation, but are listed in the Cannonsville listing). The Bonker family lived in Cannonsville until they had to relocate because of the dam. An infant, Floyd Bonker was disintered from the Cannonsville cemetery and moved to Hales Eddy. My grandfather, Arthur Martin Bonker was buried there as well as my grandmother, Lucy, several uncles and my Aunt Gertrude Van Pelt.

My paternal and maternal families lived in Delaware County. My maternal great grandparents, Joseph and Lena Gottschall, came to Walton about 1896 from Germany. Lena and Margaret Gottschall married brothers William and Basil Stedman. I think they (Stedmans) may have been from Trout Creek because their parents are buried in Carroll Hill Cemetery and I have a picture of students in front of the Trout Creek school. The Bonker family has been harder to trace. My great-grandfather,Clarence H Bonker vanishes about 1910 . Last known residence a boarding house in Deposit. No records of death or burial that I have been able to find. --Jocelyn Bonker Bailey aka Jackie, January 14, 2016
